Stevie Edwards is a poet, editor, and educator. Her first book, Good Grief, was released by Write Bloody Publishing in 2012 and subsequently won the Independent Publisher Book Awards Bronze in Poetry and the Devil's Kitchen Reading Award. She is Editor-in-Chief at Muzzle Magazine, Acquisitions Editor at YesYes Books, and a Lecturer at Cornell University.

As somebody who has struggled with Bipolar II Disorder and/or Borderline Personality Disorder (it seems to depend upon which psychiatrist you ask) since I was a teenager, I am very invested in shaking off the culture of silence and stigma surrounding mental illness. I'd like taking Prozac because you have depression to be no more shocking than drinking orange juice because you have a cold. Poetry is a great tool for addressing mental illness because it can help those who are also struggling with it to feel less alone and can give those who have not dealt with mental illness an opportunity for empathy. There are poems and poets who have saved my life by being brave enough to write about things I recognized in myself that scared and shamed me; I write continuously to repay that debt.
